The New PSP
Could the new psp 3000 system truly be better than the traditional Slim and Lite PSP system? It better be because Sony and Microsoft have an ongoing competition with the PS3 and Xbox 360 systems and the Ps3 is loosing. Sony needed an edge to drive up sales of its systems and games. They realized that a new hand-held gaming system was reaching too far, but an improvement could easily update the slim hand held system and give them increased sales. The aftermarket company's have also jumped on the band wagon with new playstation portable accessories to support the new 3000 design. The New PSP Features
September 6, 2007 was the launch date for the new Playstation Portable Slim & Lite. The name summed up its brand new look. In November 08 this unit was upgraded again and tagged the 3000. On the surface the hand held console looked the same, but upon picking it up, the difference was immediately noticeable. The new psp 3000 is slightly lighter but the same thickness as the older 2000 model. However, the real improvements are inside the little hand held gaming console and the newest psp accessories now available. The new PSP-3000 includes an improved anti-reflective screen that offers higher contrast and clearer visibility in well-lit places and can even be used outdoors in direct sunlight. I have heard people complain about interlacing and scan line problems but I have not seen this myself. So what can you expect from the new psp gaming unit? You can expect shorter load times for one. The designers at Sony doubled the internal memory to 64 MB this addresses the most common complaint about the original system. The LCD screen is now 50% lighter. The D-pad is raised a bit higher, thus helping your fingers gain better control when playing. It also now has the ability to charge via its USB port while gaming. Games are a big expense when it comes to playing. Most people elect to purchase games versus renting them. This was a great concern with sony's psp playstation portable. Would the old games still play on the new system or would players be forced to buy all new games if they wanted the new system? Rest easy, because the games are backward compatible. Also most new playstation portable accessories work with both systems!The new Playstation hand held gaming system will not always be the only game in town. Nintendo is answering back with a Nintendo DS Lite. For now though, Sony can ride high on its incoming revenue from all of the gaming bundles. The limited edition PSP's will fly off the shelves even at a whopping $199.00 and will include extras like a umd movie and extra memory stick. The gaming world is a very competitive arena between rival companies and they must constantly reinvent their software and consoles to be faster and better. There is little doubt that Sony has met this challenge head on. Technology is always progressing and moving forward in design and function. Some of the improvements are tremendously beneficial and enhance the technology, whereas some are actually a set back. When the psp 3000 debuted, many users were skeptical about whether or not the system would still play the same games as the old systems, and if the new playstation portable accessories would be better. My answer is yes it is better and I am glad I made the purchase.
