Red 69 Dodge Challenger

69 Dodge Challenger project car. I bought a beat up 69 challenger for 500 bucks just so i could have a project car and so far I hardly know what I am doing. I'm tying to take the mustang boss 302 motor out and put a 6.1L HEMI with a slap-shift transmission.

It has taken 3 months and I just got the motor out. The transmission is all messed up. Its cracked down the middle. It has been over a year now and I just finished high school in Woonsocket and I was in the automotive program and they helped me out a lot.

I got the car to look like it just came off the assembly line it runs great it has a dual flowmaster exhaust and the slapshift. I drive it around all the time except in winter of course. I brought it up to Arizona for a car show and we took third place. It is so beautiful if it wasn't for the teachers I would have never of gotten this 69 Dodge Challenger project car finished so thanks to you guys.

Okay not a 69 but still cool
by: Mechanic Mark

This section of the auto-facts.org site allows for the submission of peoples own stories and photos. Although I do moderate them I let this one slip through. You would think that people would know the year of their car? But this young man did state "I hardly know what I am doing." So nobody is perfect.

Yes the first year for the Challenger was 1970, although about 50% of the total cars built had a build date in 1969. Still gonna leave this flawed story up because the car is cool no matter what year it is. Thanks to all for bringing the error to my attention!

Dodge didn't make a '69 Challenger. They began in 1970.

Awesome 69 Challenger
by: Mopar Fan

This is one Awesome 70 Challenger. I know that putting a modern engine in a classic car is frowned upon by some but not me. That 6.1 Liter is an incredible upgrade lets say over the standard 318 or even 340 C.I. that you would normally find in that car.

I am really curious what this Challenger would run in the quarter mile. A stock 340 cubic inch was good for about a 13.75 ET back in the day. My hats off to you and job well done.
